trailer reviews nz Ghostbusters - 1984 film, 2016 trailer

An editing experiment to see how (and if) the footage of the original Ghostbusters lines up with the trailer of the new Ghostbusters.

I didn't really have an intended "result," so to speak, but I tried as best as possible to keep the general tenor and tone of the new trailer intact, with all the beats lining up more or less as they were. I changed some gags so they were less about the content of the gag, and more about the joke itself - so, instead of a "library ghost" shot, it's a "gunk gets sloshed on a Ghostbuster" shot. Instead of the "bad car" shot, it's "Ghostbuster is ovwhelmingly excited about a clearly dilapidated asset" shot. Here's what I went with:

-trail text on black cut between establishing shots of New York
-Ghostbuster(s) confront a ghost, get slimed
-Ghostbusters talk about degrees and equipment and stuff
-fourth Ghostbuster is introduced to team. yes. the black one. it's only a race thing if you make it a race thing and you probably will because it totally is
-Ghostbuster brings forward shitty/dilapidated/broken piece of equipment/technology/real estate, is entirely too enthusiastic about it
-ECTO-1!!
-ghostbusters walk triumphantly into building, make an inappropriate goof
-car! ghosts! slimer!!
-ghostbuster freaks out other ghostbuster(s) (it's a stretch but if you can find a wig and hat at once in the original Ghostbusters then you're some kind of wizard i think)
-more ghooosts
-more horror-y scenes of human possession, finishing on classic punchline aww yeaaah

It was hard to get hold of any kind of clean version of the 2016 trailer's theme remix, so I went with what I consider a far superior (and far cleaner) remix, and tried to smash it together as much as I could with the pretty poor audio scoop I managed to find.
